PRAGUE (ČIA) - According to an estimation by Czech mortgage bank Hypoteční banka, the volume of the mortgage market in the Czech republic increased by about 40% y/y to CZK 117 bln last year. According to Hypoteční banka CEO Jan Sadil, it was the second most successful year for the mortgage market in history. The market was influenced by a favourable economic sentiment, an expected growth in the bottom VAT rate, advantageous interest rates, or stable prices of property. According to Mr. Sadil, the mortgage market could reach about CZK 100 bln this year.
